| Ahhh, Britney. You have captured my heart once again.
Art is alive. Inspiration is not dead. The flagship of human creativity and ingenuity, the incomparable Mrs. Federline, has demonstrated yet another profoundly original concept: Shaved.
First it was 'Baby Hit Me Again', or something like that. Inspired.
Then came 'I'm a Slave 4 U', a poignant, yet danceable thesis on slavery - using txt msg syntax. Artful.
Then, the remake to end all remakes: 'My Prerogative' by Bobby Brown. Why didn't I think of that, dangit.
And now - just as it seemed the fine arts world had lost it's way - Britney thought of something so creative, no one ever, ever thought of it before. Wow.
I thought I'd never blog again. Until this.
Britney, you truly are a brilliant songstress, and visionary of high culture. But really, you had me at "Hit me."

| I just want to give a hearfelt shout-out to WGTS 91.9FM, our beloved "contemporary" Christian station. In special honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, they played CeCe Winans' "For Love Alone - the MLK Remix" four times yesterday.
Thanks, WGTS. If it weren't for you, I would've forgotten all about black people.
Oh, to sit in on that programming meeting:
"You got a copy of We Shall Overcome?" "No, sir." "How about some of those Negro Spirituals?" "Too negative, sir." "How 'bout some bluesy-gospely-sorta stuff?" "I think we overplayed that during Katrina, sir." "I got it! Who's that girl...uh, Sissy, or Fufu, uh, Chi-Chi-Winan - that's it." "Winans, sir. And, it's CeCe." "Whatever, just take some Martin Luther stuff and play it over top of Chi-Chi." "King, sir." "Yes?" "It's Martin Luther King, sir. Junior." "Good. Have a great weekend, see you Tuesday."

| So, the challenge went out from dlerner75 to pick your top musical picks from '06. It's too hard. Let me just say two things:
A. Probably the best music I heard in 2006 wasn't released in 2006. Yes, I'm now that cranky old man.
B. iTunes has made me even more of a "song" guy than an "album" guy. A best songs list may have been easier. Perhaps that's coming...
In any case, here it goes.
1. Dave Barnes - Chasing Mississippi - There is none righteous, no not one. Except for Dave Barnes. Everything he does is right. Always. All you John-Mayer-heads must conform: http://www.johnmayer.com/blog/john/200607
2. Jamie Lidell - Multiply - How does a white Austrailian geek win GQ's Best Soul Album of 2005? For all you lost fans of soul music, there is a saviour. His name is Jamie.
3. Richard Bona - Tiki - Never gets old. Ok, so it's brand new. But still.
4. Robin Thicke - The Evolution of Robin Thicke - Just the live and slow songs, not his "hip-hop" selections. Having overcome the oxygen-sucking D-list celebrity status of his perpetually Growing Pained dad, he has actually managed to create some beautiful music. And, he married Paula Patton. I can't hate.
5. Micah Dalton - These Are the Roots - Go on black man. Do your thing. I know, it's not his latest, but the new one still has to grow on me.

| Just a friendly bit of advice.
This was my lucky message at dinner the other night.
All I have to say is, what if I actually had cancer?
